Streatley pedestrian route
Improvements to a pedestrian route in Streatley will help residents and visitors to access the beautiful countryside on the edge of the village more safely, thanks to Mend the Gap funding and the hard work of local community group MIGGS (Mobility Issues Group for Goring and Streatley).
A much-improved wheelchair and pushchair-friendly route along the side of The Bull Inn means people will no longer have to walk in traffic near a notoriously busy crossroads. The previously existing route had an erratic gradient and uneven surface, meaning it was impassable for a wheelchair or mobility scooter and those with mobility impairments. The re-profiling and resurfacing of the ground will change this, and will enhance the route for all pedestrians , including parents with pushchairs walking to and from the primary school. The project will provide a safe and accessible route for visitors and local health and leisure walkers to gain access to and from the National Trust sites Lardon Chase, Lough Down and The Holies.
This project has been a fantastic example of community collaboration between MIGGS, the Bull Inn licensees, residents and the parish council.
