South Stoke Meadows

Mend the Gap is pleased to be able to contribute to the legal fees of the South Stoke Parish Council in connection with the preparation of a lease for the site on which a future environmental improvement project will take place.

This lease agreement between South Stoke Parish Council and Christchurch College, will see the establishment of a 20-year lease for the site. This will enable the progression of a package of works to increase biodiversity and habitat diversity at the site through the creation of wet features and maintained access routes within the leased land area. It is hoped that such works will provide enhanced habitat for waterbirds, aquatic invertebrates and aquatic plants, securing a floodplain foothold for a variety of species. Increased access through the area will be investigated and embodied where maintenance costs are suitable and habitat disturbance can be minimised.

As part of the conditions of this lease the Parish Council will consult with the community on the future management of this site.
