Orientation map for Goring and Streatley

Mend the Gap has supported the Mobility Issues Group for Goring and Streatley (MIGGS) to install an orientation plaque at Goring and Streatley station, showing accessible routes around Goring and Streatley villages.

New orientation map unveiled

A permanent, wheel-chair height, lectern-style orientation plaque has been installed at Goring & Streatley station. A more inclusive replacement than the existing plaque, the new orientation plaque includes updated information about walking and cycle routes, as well as accessible routes in the area.

This project was a great example of collaborative working, involving MIGGS, GWR, the parish council and many other stakeholder groups. Goring sits on the river where the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs National Landscapes converge, and projects like this can help make both National Landscapes more accessible for residents and visitors.

The new map was unveiled on the 28 June 2024 after months of hard work by MIGGS, led by long-term Goring resident John Boler.

Chilterns ANOB

A group of residents, councillors, GWR management, MIGGS representatives, and staff from Mend the Gap and the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs Landscapes turned out to show their support at the map unveiling.
