Goring Ferry Lane Accessibility

Improvements to a pedestrian route in Goring’s Ferry Lane will help residents and visitors to access the beautiful river bank, thanks to Mend the Gap funding and Goring-on-Thames Parish Council.

A much-improved wheelchair and pushchair-friendly route leading to the River Thames will enable more people to enjoy the iconic views of the Goring Gap and the Thames National Trail. The new path will extend the footpath that has been created alongside Station Road, linking both to the station and the disabled parking bays at the Wheel Orchard Car Park.

The current route has an uneven surface, making it impassable for a wheelchair or mobility scooter and those with mobility impairments. The re-profiling and resurfacing of the ground will change this, and will enhance the route for all pedestrians , including parents with pushchairs walking to and from the river. The project will  provide a safe and accessible route for visitors and local health and leisure walkers to gain access to and from the Thames National Trail, and Goring Lock on the River Thames.

Works will take place in 2026 and 2027 and disturbance will be kept to a minimum, with the local community being kept informed of the works through Parish Council updates.
